Testing week: connecting our baselines

Achieving optimal health is an individual journey and your body is your report card. Every 9 weeks (8 week training cycles need finishing!) at fitbynature we test our baselines to uplevel our benchmarks:

  • Maybe you feel you’re slipping away from what’s important to you and want to get back on track

  • Maybe you’ve been consistent and you want to see just what you’ve got under the bonnet

  • Either way we end up with real data that’s comparable to you next time (and from last time if you’ve joined us before)

  • What do we test? A lot of fitness guidelines adhere to the how much can you do - a 2.4km run, push-ups, plank, flexibility. But as a functional movement proponent, we also add in 7 simple ‘either you can or you can’t’ moves - squat, shoulder rotation, trunk stability, hinging - so that we can see where our current practice is keeping us ‘whole’ and preempt any red flags and asymmetries before they take us out thru injury. And then we each have 1-3 individual projects like handstands, chin-ups, climbing grades, heavier weights, run times, you know, individual goals!! It’s a great time to ‘perform’ where you’re at, get feedback, inspo, and go forth and conquer!

What’s your path forward look like? Where are you starting from, where would you like to go, and so what’s missing and let’s go get it!
