Hoisin (with dates) sauce

  • 4 large dried Medjool dates, pitted

    ¼ cup almond butter

    ¼ cup coconut aminos

    ¼ cup water

    2 tbsp rice vinegar

    1 tbsp balsamic vinegar

    ½ tsp Chinese five spice powder

    ½ tsp toasted sesame oil

    ¼ tsp sea salt

  • mince and mash up the dates until they’re the consistency of a thick, sticky paste.

    Minced dates with knife or whizzer then combine with the rest of the ingredients in a small saucepan, bringing to a simmer.

    Cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 to 7 minutes or until the sauce thickens and darkens.
