You’re your environment
You’re literally an expression of the environment around you! Where you currently live and the environment you surround yourself with is intrinsic to who you are. Food, water, temperature, light, emotions, stress, spirit, passions all play a unique role that belongs solely to you.
What’s more, your daily environment has a profound impact on your physical and mental health: the ground you walk on, the air you breathe, the light you bathe in but also the people you’re exposed to, the media you watch, the marketing in buildings you pass. Interestingly, women feel the effects of their environment more than men! We have higher lepton levels to increase fertility and remain more sensitive to our environment. We encode our mitochondria from our environment information and pass this blueprint to our kids. Men, on the other hand, have more resilience in order to protect and nurture.
However, you don’t ‘get’ your environment and you’re done. It changes like the day to night, the seasons, your interests, your relationships. Some you’ve control over, others not so much, so focus on what you can is your superpower. Is yours working for you right now:

Sounds like a lot of work? Except everything changes when you realise it’s not what you’re giving up but what you’re gaining. It’s not about complete abstinence, deprivation or shaming yourself into submission, just making everything simpler. You’ll no longer have to take up space in your brain with all the decisions if you simplify well: so many things in our lives might not be giving anymore but also taking away.
That change is possible needn’t be such a mindset shift and you can turn things around very simply. Curate your environment!
