Training, practice, exercise, movement?

Life and practice are the same same.

Life doesn’t stop when we stop exercise.

Movement doesn’t stop if exercise ends.

Life in practice. Practice is life.

Exercise is often talked about as tho it’s separate and different to the rest of our life. As an activity it is I guess but in terms of quality of the mind/intention it’s really no different from rest of our life. Living in some degree of awareness, witnessing our body with awareness, exercise and continue our day hopefully still aware. We just paused for long enough to witness our body, to work it out, then we witness that in life.

So if exercise isn’t separate from the rest of our life, what can we do instead or with what we already do? We’re missing important element: knowing we can refine and carry our ‘exercise’ quality like a ripple thru the rest of our day, less stiffness and discomfort, less risk of injury, less fatigue to sleep ease, more time for everything else: we move to move!

  • You are your own gym. Moving your body throughout the day is better for a long term view (your youngevity!) than a 40 min all out workout followed by or following sitting at a desk for 8 hours.

  • Consistency is more important than intensity

  • Methods are many but principles are few

  • This means worry less about doing the “perfect” workout. Instead focus on lifting consistently with intent & utilize progressive overload & you'll make better gains than 99% of folks. And different over harder.

  • Don't worry about gaining “Too much" muscle too fast. It takes a long time.

  • Adequate protein & quality sleep help with progress way more than expensive supplements.

  • Lifting weights is about more than aesthetics. Strong muscles & bones, increased confidence, & improved mental health are just a few benefits. Free your mind abs your ass will follow

  • Focus on “all or something" instead of “all or nothing." The 10 min warm- up, 5 min walk, 15 min bodyweight circuit all add up. All or nothing cannot take us thru to longevity

  • It ALL adds up

No job done is well in isolation: family, eating, sharing, laughing, communicating, loving, and moving! Surround, attract, and retain an environment where you can thrive. Exercise is just one part of the journey of movement, and it needn’t be just another thing to check off in your day. Move to move!
