When someone says you’re broken

When someone says your body is broken, remember that you have:

  • New stomach cells every 3-5 days

  • New skin every 4 weeks

  • New red blood cells every 3-4 months

  • A new liver every 2 years

  • A new body every 7 years

  • A new skeletal system every decade

So, not only are you a tissue-generating miracle, a nutrient storing powerhouse, and let’s face it a self correcting architect, your healing is an unending process and that’s a good thing, if not the greatest thing. You are constantly a new you!

It also goes to show your body knows not only how to build you, it also knows what’s ‘right’, ‘enough’ and ‘healthy’. You are what you eat, move and think maybe better said as you are what you consume. So it figures you’re in the driving seat to only consume what you'd like to become and to stop trying to over consume what never fills you! And finally and most magnificently, it also means that thought ‘What if I come back stronger than before?’ Is not only possible but probable if you consume the right things!

Move:

You can’t strengthen where you can’t go and if you want to move better, you need to actually MOVE when stretching. When you move, engage your muscles and other connective tissues— you're training your body to understand how to use that joint with control.

Meals:

By focusing on nourishing our bodies we send a safety signal telling our body we have enough nutrients. Focus on nutrient density ( how your meals feel as well as your next hunger signals to tell you how you went!). When we don’t get enough of our macros or micronutrients our body will continue to crave food.

Mind:

When we choose what to watch or read, we are choosing our future thoughts and perspectives.

Actionable Tip: Only consume what you'd like to become. Try to focus on nutrient-density - of FUNctional moves, whole foods, choosing your future choices. Give your body what it’s really craving. Don’t forget the micronutrients too! Our body doesn’t make mistakes. Our body heals itself; it senses what’s going on and self corrects.
